Your PageKiwi report, explained

Every problem a PageKiwi report can show: what it means, who it affects, and how soon to fix it.

Reading a report

Each row is one problem. Problem is what kind it is (all explained below), with how soon to fix it underneath: Fix first means it stops visitors or sends them the wrong way, so do these before anything else; When you can means it works but is slow, confusing or worth a look. The report lists the Fix first problems at the top. Where is the link, picture or words it's about, and where on the page: the menu, the footer, or the page itself. What to tell your web person is the fix, in words you can copy into an email.

The report's address works for 90 days, so you can send it to whoever fixes your site and they'll see exactly what you see. When they've fixed things, check again.

"Nothing to fix" means we didn't find anything in what we checked: one page, up to 10 of its links and 10 of its pictures, and for facts up to 10 pages. It doesn't promise the whole site is perfect.

A Full Check report also lists anything Site health flagged, with the same two labels.

ProblemWhat it meansHow soon
Dead link The link goes to a page or website that isn't there. Visitors who click it hit an error page and often leave.Fix first
Lands on "not found" The link seems to work, but the page it opens says "not found". Most link checkers miss these.Fix first
Goes nowhere The link should jump to a part of the same page (like "Hours" further down), but that part isn't there, so nothing happens. When you can
Long way around The link goes through one or more redirects (stops on the way) before it arrives. It works, but it's slower, and it breaks if any stop goes away. When you can
Moved The page moved and the old address forwards visitors on. It works today; if the forwarding is ever removed, the link dies. When you can
Not secure A link or picture uses plain http:// instead of https://. Browsers may block the picture or show "Not secure".When you can
Private address The link points to the developer's own computer or a private network (like localhost), left over from building the site. It can't work for anyone else.Fix first
Email link broken Clicking the email address won't work: the address is misspelled, or the domain after the @ can't receive email.Fix first
Phone link broken Tapping the number on a phone won't ring, usually because of a letter in it (an O instead of a zero) or a missing digit.Fix first
No answerThe other website didn't answer in time. It may be slow or down for now: check the link yourself, and again in a day. When you can
Site errorThe other website answered with an error of its own. Nothing you can fix on your side, but worth telling them, or linking somewhere else. When you can

Pictures

ProblemWhat it meansHow soon
Missing picture The picture doesn't load, so visitors see a blank space or a broken-picture icon.Fix first
Doesn't match The photo contradicts its words, like a "navy hoodie" that's pink. Claude, Anthropic's AI, spots these, and it can be wrong, so look for yourself.Fix first
Heavy photo The picture file is far bigger than the page shows it, so the page loads slowly, especially on phones. The report has a smaller copy ready. When you can
No description The picture has no alt text: the words a screen reader reads out for blind visitors, and what shows if the picture fails. When you can
Unhelpful description The alt text is a file name, like "IMG_4032.JPG", which tells a blind visitor nothing. When you can
Placeholder A "coming soon" or blank picture that was never replaced, or the same picture used for several different things. When you can

Facts

ProblemWhat it meansHow soon
Different phone numbers Pages give different numbers. If one is old, customers call a number that doesn't answer. When you can
Different email addresses Pages give different emails. One may go to a mailbox nobody reads. When you can
Different ZIP codes Pages give different ZIP codes. A wrong one sends mail, deliveries and GPS to the wrong place.Fix first

Accessibility

ProblemWhat it meansHow soon
Form box without a label A box to type in has no label, so a screen reader can't say what goes in it. Gray hint text inside the box isn't enough.Fix first
Link with no words Often an icon. A screen reader just says "link".Fix first
Button with no words Often an icon. A screen reader just says "button".Fix first
Zoom turned off People can't pinch to zoom on a phone, which many people need to read.Fix first
Link that doesn't say where it goes"Click here" or "Read more". Screen reader users often hear just the list of links, so these tell them nothing. When you can
No main headingThe page has no main title (a heading level 1), so screen reader users can't jump to the content. When you can
Headings skip a level Headings jump, say from level 2 to level 4. Screen reader users find their way by headings, and a gap looks like something's missing. When you can
Table without headersA screen reader reads the cells without saying which column they're in.When you can
No page languageScreen readers may read the page in the wrong accent. When you can
No page titleThe browser tab and screen readers can't say what the page is.When you can
Embedded frame without a titleA map or video from another site with no name, so a screen reader just says "frame".When you can
Plays sound by itselfSound that starts on its own drowns out a screen reader.Fix first
Changed Tab orderKeyboard users jump around the page in an odd order. When you can
