Get your business on Google Maps
It's free, through a Google Business Profile. It's often the first thing people see when they search for you, before your website.
Set it up
- Go to google.com/business and sign in with a Google account you'll keep (not a staff member's personal one).
- Search for your business. If it's already there, claim it; if not, add it.
- Choose your category, then your address, or the area you serve if customers don't come to you.
- Add your phone number and website.
- Prove it's yours, using one of the ways Google offers. Which ones you get depends on your business.
The details that win customers
- Hours
Including holiday hours. Wrong hours are a common complaint.
- Real photos
Your storefront, inside, your products. Recent ones, taken on a phone, are fine.
- The same facts as your website
Same phone number and address. Facts Check spots differences on your site.
- Reply to reviews
Briefly and politely, good and bad. People read the replies.
Google never charges for a Business Profile. Calls or emails offering to "verify" or "rank" it for a fee are sales pitches or scams: see Spot scam emails.
