Send the error messages

When a page breaks, your browser usually notes why in a hidden panel called the console. Open it, save what it says, and send the file.

  • Chrome or Edge Ctrl + Shift + J
  • Chrome or Edge on a Mac ⌘ + Option + J
  • Firefox Ctrl + Shift + K
  • Firefox on a Mac ⌘ + Option + K

Errors show in red. Right-click among them to save the lot as a file.

Chrome or Edge on a computer

  1. Open the page with the problem.
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + J (Mac: ⌘ + Option + J). A panel opens with the Console.
  3. Do the thing that goes wrong again, such as pressing the Pay button. New red lines are the errors.
  4. Right-click in the console and choose Save as…. Send that file to whoever is helping you.

Firefox on a computer

  1. Open the page and press Ctrl + Shift + K (Mac: ⌘ + Option + K).
  2. Do the thing that goes wrong again.
  3. Right-click in the console and choose Save all Messages to File.

Safari on a Mac

  1. Turn on the developer menu once: Safari › Settings › Advanced, check Show features for web developers.
  2. Open the page and press ⌘ + Option + C.
  3. Do the thing that goes wrong again, then click in the console, press ⌘ + A and ⌘ + C, and paste it into an email.

On a phone

Phones don't show the console. Instead, send your My setup link and a screenshot of what you see, and say what you pressed.
