Game
Write the alt text
Alt text is what a screen reader reads aloud for a picture. Write it for 8 pictures, with instant tips.
0 of 8 passed every check
Our checks are simple word rules, so they can't judge good writing. Compare yours with our answers as you go. What each picture was about:
- A file name means nothing read aloud. Swap it for what's in the picture.
- Skip "photo" and "image" on their own. Say what's in it.
- A place: one sentence that would make sense over the phone.
- A flyer: the date, time and place go in the words, and in the page text too.
- Decoration: leave the box empty, so screen readers skip it.
- A sign: include the words on it.
- A chart: say what it shows in a sentence. The numbers go in the page.
- People: say what's happening. Name people only if you know who they are and they're happy to be named.
