Free website bug report template
Updated Oct 8, 2026
Fill in what went wrong and copy a clear bug report for whoever fixes your website. It's made in your browser; nothing is sent to us.
Your report
It changes as you type. Gaps in brackets still need filling in.
Subject:
"Open it in my email" starts a new message in your email app with the report filled in. If nothing opens, or the message comes out cut short, copy the report instead and paste it into an email or a support form.
Before you send it
- One problem per report. Two problems in one message often get one fix.
- Say who it affects and any deadline, like "Nobody can sign up, and sign-ups close Friday."
- Never put a password in a report. If they need to log in, they'll ask, and you can give them their own account.
- Want to send every detail of your browser at once? My setup makes one link with your browser, device and settings that you can paste into the report.
- Asking for a change rather than reporting a fault? Use the website change request template.
How to use it
- Paste the address of the page with the problem, and say what happened in your own words.
- Fill in the other boxes you can: what you were doing, what you expected, when, and how often.
- On the computer or phone with the problem, press Fill in from this browser.
- Press Make my report and read it through. Fill in any gaps in brackets.
- Press Copy the report and paste it into an email or support form, or press Open it in my email. Attach your screenshot.
What your results mean
- Subject
- A suggested subject line for your email, made from what happened.
- Gaps in brackets
- Details still missing. Fill in what you can; the page and what happened matter most.
- Open it in my email
- Starts a new message in your own email app. Nothing is sent until you press Send there, and nothing reaches us.
When to use it
- Something on your website is broken and you need to tell your web person or website company.
- A visitor tells you about a problem and you want to pass it on with every detail.
- Your website company asks you to "open a ticket" or "send steps to reproduce".
Why it matters
- A clear report gets fixed in one go. A vague one starts a round of emails asking which page, when and on what.
- The browser and device often decide whether a problem shows up at all, and most people don't know theirs off by heart.
