Report a website problem so it gets fixed
Facts checked Oct 8, 2026
To report a website problem, send the page link, what you saw and expected, when, your browser and a screenshot.
What to send
Whoever fixes your site, a web person, your website company's support team or a friend who built it, has to see the problem before they can fix it. Each of these saves a round of emails:
- The page's address. Copy it from the bar at the top of your browser. "The events page" can mean three different pages.
- What you did. The steps, in order: "I opened the page, filled in the form, pressed Send."
- What you saw. The exact words of any message. Copy them, or take a picture of them.
- What you expected. "A thank-you message", "the photo of the hall", "the 7 pm start time".
- When. The date and time, and whether it happens every time or only now and then.
- Your browser and device. Say "Chrome on a Windows laptop" or "Safari on an iPhone". Easier still, open My setup and send its link: it lists your browser, device and settings for you.
- A screenshot. A picture of the problem says more than a paragraph. Take a screenshot shows how on a computer and a phone.
- What you'd already tried. A hard refresh, another browser, a phone instead of a computer. If it works on your phone but not your computer, that's a big clue.
Make it easy to act on
- One problem per email. Two problems in one message often get one fix.
- Say who it affects. "Nobody can register for the fun run" gets looked at before "the footer looks odd".
- Say if there's a deadline. "Registration closes Friday."
- Never send passwords. If they need to log in, they'll ask, and you can give them their own account.
Send this to your web person
Not sure what to say? Copy this into an email, add your website's address, and send it.
Hi, Something's wrong on our website. The screenshot attached shows it. The page: [copy the address from the top of your browser] What I did: [for example, filled in the contact form and pressed Send] What I saw: [for example, the button went gray and nothing happened] What I expected: [for example, a thank-you message] When: [the date and time; every time, or only sometimes] My browser and device: [for example, Chrome on a Windows laptop, or your My setup link from pagekiwi.com/my-setup/] What I've tried: [for example, a hard refresh, and my phone, where it works] Who it affects: [for example, anyone trying to contact us] Thanks
If they ask for more
Sometimes the problem only shows up on your computer, and whoever fixes it asks for a closer look. These guides walk you through it:
- Open the browser console and send the errors: the hidden notes a page leaves when something breaks.
- Save a HAR file (network log): a record of everything a page loaded, for when something won't load or send. It can hold private details, so send it only to someone you trust.
Not sure if the problem is the site or your own computer? A cleared cache or a check that the site's up often tells you.
